Database Management System (CSC 265) is a core Fourth Semester subject in Tribhuvan University’s BSc CSIT program (current / new course code). It covers database concepts and architecture, ER modeling, the relational model, SQL, relational algebra/calculus, normalization, transactions, concurrency control, and recovery—with SQL programming labs.
On this page you’ll find the official CSC 265 syllabus. Downloadable notes PDFs will be added when a reliable CSIT notes set is available (CSIT Tutor currently lists syllabus and past papers only for this subject).
Note: Older batches may still see CSC 260 on past papers; the syllabus content is largely the same. CSC 265 is the current code under the revised grading system.
What you’ll learn
- DBMS architecture, schemas, and data independence
- ER/EER modeling and relational constraints
- Relational algebra/calculus and practical SQL
- Normalization (2NF, 3NF, BCNF, 4NF) and decomposition
- Transactions, concurrency control, and recovery techniques
